NAMI Illinois’ COVID 19 Rapid Response: Transition to Online Services and Ramp-up for Increased Needs

COVID-19 brutally stormed into our lives in mid-March and turned everything upside-down, forcing us to react and adjust our programs and services for those who are living with mental illness.

As the shelter-in-place mandate persists, the need for mental health resources continues to spike to all-time highs. NAMI Illinois is working tirelessly to make mental health care accessible, but we need your help to reach all of those in need.

During these times of uncertainty, the NAMI Illinois community is here for those in need. Your donation directly impacts programs critical to healthy communities and happy lives. Together, we can realize our shared vision where everyone who needs mental health care has access to it.

NAMI Illinois’ COVID 19 Rapid Response: Transition to Online Services and Ramp-up for Increased Needs

  • Increased reach by 22 percent (up to 51,534 people)
  • Bringing mental health support to all 102 counties in Illinois
  • NAMI in Illinois has offered 64 Connections (peer support groups) and 47 Family Support Groups
  • Triage the overwhelming increase in call-volume, social media hits and other inquires
  • Support the efforts of 20 NAMI affiliates throughout the state as they provide necessary care specific to their communities.
  • Build Public Awareness via media outreach and extensive social media
  • State organization has provided technical support, referrals, and publicity to extend our current geographic reach
  • Launched Friends & Family programs statewide, and are organizing special programs with affiliates, community groups and leaders
  • Special programs include Support Groups for Healthcare Workers, Ask an Expert: Helping Children Cope with COVID 19 and Town Halls on Coping with Stress
